Diplo live streaming DJ sets, royalties paid to all artists

For the duration of social distancing/quarantine practices in the U.S., Diplo will live stream DJ sets from his house five nights per week.

The streams, intended to provide distraction and entertainment to the millions of Americans, and those around the world, responsibly staying in their homes, will be themed in line with Diplo’s interests: A Very LazerSunday, paying homage to his group, Major Lazer’s, dancehall and reggae roots airing Sundays at 1p.m. PT; a mixed-bag Ronatronix set Tuesdays at 7p.m. PT (the name a throwback to the iconic Hollertronix parties that launched his career); country-flecked variety show The Thomas Wesley Show Thursdays at 7p.m. PT; ambient Corona Sabbath Fridays at 7p.m. PT; and a good, old fashioned CoronightFever rave Saturday nights at 8p.m. PT.

In an unprecedented coordinated effort, major publishers and record labels will allow the archived streams to live on YouTube and to be monetized by respective rights holders, with royalties being paid to all those whose music is played in the shows.

In addition to enabling rights holders to monetize accordingly on YouTube, those viewing on the Mad Decent Twitch page will be able to seamlessly donate to the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund.
