I’ve been a fan of Shan Vincent de Paul for all of two weeks but that is enough time to know that Shan has a great future ahead and when you listen to his songs, you’ll understand. His music is inspired by his life experiences which is refreshing in this mainstream way of life that is based on what is trending. He digs deep with a flow that will mesmerise you.
On ‘Thank God’, his second single, he was inspired by his tumultuous relationship with religion.
In an interview with HipHopDX, he said, “The church fucked up my relationship with God. I walked away from religion a long time ago and have no plans of returning. Now I wear the last name like an old scar. Making this album let me discover my own understanding of spirituality and finding that greater force. ‘Thank God’ is a song giving praise to that discovery.”
Shan is 1/4 of the sideways crew, a group of like-minded artists operating out of a Toronto West End studio who handle everything from songwriting and production to art design and videos.
‘Die Iconic’ was the first single off his debut album ‘Saviors’ which is due Spring 2016.
