Music lovers, I have a treat for you today! A Q&A with Brixton Afropop and Afrofusion singer, songwriter, and performer Vicky Sola!!
I’m this excited because Vicky is such a talented artist, and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to do this Q&A with her. Her song ‘Cooked Food‘ is such a hit, so I had to ask her about it and also find out more about her.

Cooked Food’ is a big tune! How do you feel about the response the track has gotten so far?
Thank you for taking your time out to listen. Much appreciated. I am very grateful for all the responses received it has been positive from some old and new supporters. I feel more fulfilled that I have smashed my goal which was to put it out and still do what I love.
Tell me about the video for Cooked Food, what was the experience like for you?
The video was shot around the vibrant Brixton Market. Dancing around with Jollof rice and chicken containers and also playing about with the spices in the Market. It actually felt weird looking all glamed up to go to the market, first time for everything. Everyone from the dancers, stylists DOP were amazing to work with. Nothing but Good vibes.
What is your favourite type of cooked food?
I don’t have a favourite dish. I love my food well seasoned with the flavours poppin.
Are you a great cook?
I love cooking! Mainly African dishes like jollof rice, chicken plantain, fried rice and the Traditional Red pepper stew that you can eat with anything. When I cook food with love it tastes better than when its rushed. I’m still yet to learn some more dishes.
When you’re not doing music what do you do?
I am a working city girl on a normal day.
How would you describe your sound?
Afro fusion with Soul/R&B vocals.
How important is it to you that your heritage is represented in the music that you make?
I have so much passion for African Arts and culture. It’s just in my DNA.
What can we look forward to from you in the coming months?
More music, more visuals, more shows.
