I have been a fan of Astronomyy’s music since 2014 and it’s an honour to share with you guys his new tune, ‘Hypnotized’. It’s also an honour to share with you an interview I did with him recently. He talks about what he did this year including meeting a man who walked on the moon and tells us more about the new tune.

Check it out below

1. How has 2016 been for you?
2016 is most definitely the strangest year I’ve seen. It feels like a monumental year that will be the turning point for a lot of things. I’m excited about what will follow 2016, in a lot of ways. Especially musically.
2. What is one of your favourite things you’ve done this year?
My favourite thing was meeting Buzz Aldrin (I don’t think I need to explain, but he was the second of twelve men to ever step foot on the moon). He did a talk at Oxford University and signed a book for me. Incredible stories
3. What inspires the music you create?
The music I create is inspired either lyrically by fleeting thoughts and sonically either by an interesting sound, chord or rhythm. Sometimes I’ll start a song based on a thought or phrase or emotion that just entered my mind, or sometimes I’ll have a rhythm that I want to lay down as a beat, or I’ll just jump on a piano and play a few chords. It’s also fun to sit down at an instrument, set your phone to record a voice memo and just sing the first thing that comes to your head. Pretend you’re singing a song that exists. You can then listen back and take your favourite parts. That’s the great thing about songs — there are so many ways you can initiate them.

4. What’s the overall theme of the song?

The theme is different stages of a relationship. You can clearly see the beginning, middle an end of a conventional relationship.

5. How long did it take to put it together and what was that process like for you?
The process of creating new work is always fun. This single is the first thing I’ve ever created that I’m happy with, and excited about. Lyrically my work at the moment is a collage of my life over the past 5 years. That’s the fun part about music. You get to a point where you don’t think you’ll ever progress from, and a year later you’ve totally blown that out of the water.  I like to be self-sustainable.
6. What would you tell people to expect on this song?
From me at the moment… expect chill sentiments paired with trashy guitars, wrapped up in 80s and washed up on the beach.
7. Finally, what one word would you use to describe yourself?
I’d describe myself as balanced. People underestimate the importance of balance.
