So love what you know
Don’t have no doubt about it
Leave her alone
and don’t stop now
It’s just a bump in the road with distance to go
So just don’t think about it,
and wait for the snow
She’ll feel so cold about it
Fearful and low
And don’t stop now
It’s just a bump in the road with distance to go
So just don’t think about it
I don’t think there are words to fully describe how much I love this song. Melis’ ‘Flower’ dropped a few hours ago and I’ve been listening to it non stop.
Melis, formerly of songwriter duo IYES, dedicates this first song off her debut EP, to her father. The track tells the tale of a relationship let-down and break-up in the most endearing and understanding way.

Melis explains: “Flower is the track from the EP that really holds a special place for me. I wrote it during 2016 which seemed to be a bit of a rough patch for me. The sentiment of the song is that going through sadness and being in a dark place isn’t forever. There is hope and better things, if only one doesn’t give up. This song is the encouragement for that. I recorded the idea, like Love Song Idea, on my iPhone. I began to record parts of it in my apartment and in a small Berlin studio space with Josh Christopher.”
Melis plans to release the EP with a special run of very limited (200) 10” Grey Vinyl, hand-numbered and personally noted, which you can pre-order here via Qrates.
